Miami Everglades Airboat Tour

We have limited accessibility for guests who are handicapped. The boats are not wheelchair accessible but our exhibits are. If you are able to comfortably take a step down into our boats or have a family member help you into and out of the boat, you will be able to enjoy the boat ride. Upon check-in, please let our clerks know that you will need additional time to board the boat and we will be sure to let the captain know so you will be escorted to the front of the line and given time to get comfortable. If you are apprehensive about having to get into the boat comfortably, you can still enjoy our animal exhibits! The exhibit area is a gravel walkway. We have a wheelchair we can lend you at no cost for the exhibit area.

In the event a named tropical storm or hurricane approaches South Florida if necessary staff will contact guests to reschedule or refund any park adventures booked. The park will not apply any cancellation or change fees for this service.

Sawgrass Recreation Park welcomes service animals at the park under the care and responsibility/liability of the owner. According to federal and state law, a “service animal” is defined as a dog or miniature horse that is trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. The work or tasks performed by a service animal must be directly related to the individual’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under state or federal law. Service animals may access all areas of the grounds of the park. It is not recommended that service animals partake in the airboat ride due to the noise of the engine and potential stress it may cause the animals. Service animals are the responsibility of the owner and cannot be left unattended at any time. Sawgrass Recreation Park staff members are not permitted to take care of, supervise, transport or take custody of service animals at any time. Guests are responsible for maintaining control of their service animal at all times. Service animals must be leashed, tethered or harnessed at all times, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the guest’s disability prevents the use of these devices. In which case, the guest must maintain control through voice, signal, or other effective controls. Service animals must be housebroken and waste cleanup is the responsibility of the guest. If a service animal poses a direct threat to the safety or well-being of other park guests, employees or animals, or if a guest is unable to maintain effective control of a service animal, the guest may be asked to remove the animal from the park grounds.

Any age child can enjoy an airboat ride. We advise parents that our boats are very noisy and we provide ear plugs for everyone riding. All children aged six and under must wear a life jacket which we provide. Guests over the age of six may also obtain and wear a life jacket if they wish. It is a safe and smooth enjoyable ride.

Reservations are required for all tour options. Your reservation is made to specify a window of arrival time and not a boat departure time. You may arrive any time within your chosen window, and you will be assigned to the next boat boarding. The boats go out every 30 minutes so that is typically the longest wait time.

We do not place restrictions on expectant mothers; the decision is left up to each individual. However, guests should consider the following: the airboat will be traveling over the water for a minimum of 30 minutes, and while typically, a very smooth ride can be bumpy in high wind conditions. Additionally, it is very warm outside for most of the year, so heat and hydration need to be considered. Therefore, we do ask that you consult a doctor before your visit. Please explain the nature of the attraction and activities you plan to enjoy so you can receive a proper assessment.

The general admission airboat tour holds 20-25 passengers per boat. Our private airboat tours go out on smaller boats that hold up to 4 passengers, 5-6 passengers, or up to 10 passengers.

There is no charge for parking and there is plenty of parking space available.

Yes, we have a secure area to store your luggage during your visit. After booking, please call the local contact number on the confirmation email so we can make arrangements for you.

Our boats leave every 20 to 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

A final boat leaves at 5 p.m., but we recommend our guests arrive here no later than 4 p.m. because our animal exhibits close at 5 p.m. when the last boat boards.

Reservations are required as we often sell out due to the popularity of our tours.

During your guided tour of The Everglades, our experienced airboat captains try their best find wildlife such as alligators, birds, fish, and turtles. You also hear stories about The Everglades ecosystem and even some history of The Everglades.

Our boats ride smoothly and a pregnant woman can go on our boats.
